Biatain Alginate Ag is a highly absorbent silver alginate dressing for moderately to heavily exuding infected wounds of any size, shape and depth. It has superior absorption and antimicrobial effect for infected sloughy wounds and cavity filling.
- Composition
- Biatain Alginate Ag is an alginate dressing consisting of calcium alginate, carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) and an ionic silver complex.
- Mode of Action
- On contact with wound exudate Biatain Alginate Ag converts to a soft, cohesive gel that conforms closely to the wound bed for optimal infection control. The patented silver complex releases ions in the presence of wound exudate.

Biatain Alginate Ag provides continuous antimicrobial effect during the entire wear time (up to 7 days).

- The absorption of Biatain Alginate Ag and the gel formation which locks exudate inside the gel prevent leakage that can cause maceration of the surrounding skin.

- Indication
- Biatain Alginate Ag can be used on all moderate to heavily exuding partial to full thickness wounds, including leg ulcers, pressure ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers, donor sites, traumatic wounds, and second degree burns.
- Biatain Alginate Ag may be used on infected wounds or wounds at risk of infection. Biatain Alginate Ag can be used under compression bandages.
- Ideal for cavity filling for infected wounds

- Biatain Alginate Ag should not be used on dry or lightly exuding wounds or to control heavy bleeding.
